Distant Hope

Inspiration: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo, 2017)

I used highly saturated warm and cool tones to amplify the dynamic contrast between the golden light of the sky and the deep blue-violet hues of the distant mountains. By employing thick, expressive acrylic brushstrokes, I sought to render Link's contemplative stance against a backdrop of the peaceful, yet expansive, natural world.

Overwhelming Dread

This piece serves as a thematic counterpoint to A Distant Hope, capturing the foreboding and conflict of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The intention was to shift the emotional register from tranquility to one of intense, overwhelming danger, contrasting with the peaceful environment explored in the previous work. This aggressive use of color deliberately explores the duality between environmental peace and imminent catastrophe.

Overgrown Jungle Meditation

Created in pen and ink on paper, the artist uses zentangle patterns to fill the composition meticulously. The intricate, swirling designs are layered to evoke a dense, overgrown jungle, creating a sense of natural complexity and depth.

Ancient Legend Rediscovered

To develop the composition, the artist applied a thin layer of paint to create the appearance of an old, worn surface, which serves as the foundation for building a powerful character on top.

Echoes of a Hollow Heart

The artist focused on capturing fine detail in the face of the stern owl to create a sense of intensity, while intentionally leaving the center of the body blank to symbolically represent the subject's hollow feelings.
